The journey of Vincenzo Russo, videomaker and photographer, developed between factories that reproduce classical statues around Italy, from Tuscany to Veneto, from Lazio to Lombardy, from Emilia-Romagna to Liguria, often during cloudy days. Following the method, with the Pentax 645 and a closed diaphragm, he spent entire days, literally immersed in the statues, recording a slow revelation, a progressive image on the retina. The photographic gaze creates a dense relationship, a complete reciprocity between the subject and the object, the machine and things, reality and representation.

The images play with the "reproducible nature of the work of art", representing the repetition of the same model of classical or neoclassical tradition, placed in the background of the factory. The statues, in several copies, appropriate the space, become natural rhythm and color, free from cultural and social influences. The aura already lost is photographically reconstituted, with the performance of the machine eye, with the interaction of the viewer. The reproductions attach to objects and spaces, to contextual frames, the image free from the industrial project and the destiny of the garden, those objects, returning them to a primary vitality, like the nature of time that modifies and reimagines the statues, makes them emerge with the new colors of walls and glass, between the shapes of nets and platforms. The landscape is completely redetermined subjectively, as in the American school, bringing with it the profound echoes of a Mediterranean rewrite.
